A kicking class last night at www.essexfightingarts.weebly.com and was also a ‘kicking class! Ha ha!
Had the opportunity to go through various kicks with some ups and downs covering front kick / push kick, round kicks, Thai knees, side kick and stomp kick to the knee. Then on to the strike shields with more of the same to work on technique and power. Running through front, round, spinning, side and oblique kicks. Some really great kicks by all, but practice makes perfect so keep at it and I will keep an eye on your progress. After the strike shields we moved on to oblique (Sipa) kicks to the shin and counters and also oblique stomp kicks to the ankle (Yatuk). These kicks for me are so important to master as they give a massive advantage as they are unexpected and so hard to spot or stop when done properly, but also would take your opponents eye off the ball as the brain would concentrate on the pain of the shin while you attack the head. Hope you also enjoyed the pyramid sets we went through which are bloody hard work and the first time I have done them for a while but was back in the groove straight away. Have a great week and weekend and will see next week. Ouss…
NOTE: Forgot to mention last night, but next week our class will be on Tuesday at 8pm in the hall for one week only!
