A good class last night at Essex Fighting Arts. Firstly, sorry to hear that Les has covid and I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on his feet soon.
Welcome to Lucas as a new student. He won't mind me saying I'm sure that he suffered a brain injury in the past which left him with 20% of his brain dead and had to learn how to speak again over a year and get his life back on track. An unbelievable achievement as he is back training again doing what he loves in martial arts and did a great job last night training with us. Respect!
The class was a good chance to get through the basics of single sick so we worked through hubud with single stick, various strikes and stick strips. I was quite picky last night with the finite details talking small changes in hand positions, body positions and more to get the best out of the techniques. As my Sensei once said to me "Less is more and black belts will do the same techniques with less movement and effort!" so all about angles and positioning of your body and tools to put you in the best place to do more damage.
Have a great week and look forward to seeing you next week. Ouss...
