Another brilliant class at Essex Fighting arts on Tuesday this week and welcome back to Reece who gels well with the club and ethos overall. Spent the first part of the class as RAC rescue and was more like a Formula 1 team with me, Les and Will changing his flat tyre in record time and Will using his handy pump to give the tyre life! Ha ha Les was good to get home which was the main thing and will never leave a brother struggling to get home. 😊
The class consisted of going through the motions of a drill we haven’t done for a very long time by a man called Mo Teague who was ex special forces. We mainly went through the motions to get everyone used to this as it is as much the pad man learning where to put the pads as the person hitting it. The full drill is worked over 3 x three minute rounds and is pretty gruelling at the end when it is completely random and you’re getting whacked from every and any angle while hitting back and trying to breathe. We then went on to low shin kicks through Sipa’s, Yatuk’s and Sikud with some blocking / passing techniques which are fun. And finally on to a series of techniques taken from the WALIS (throwing) with various leg sweeps and some quite brutal.
A great class and looking forward to next week which will be the last one of this year as we will be back on the `11th January! See you soon! Ouss…
