A great class last night at Essex Fighting Arts. Got back into some knife play again starting with an ice icepick grip vs orthodox grip drill which teaches dexterity and zoning. Taking this another step further into strip for strip with the same drill which is again fun to run through
Then we moved onto the good old 3 and 4 attacks (stab and slash) getting used to blocking and passing first, but then adding in eye strikes, c grips, switching hands, random punches and counters plus more to make it much more dynamic and keeps you on your toes. It's easy to get complacent and just focus on the knife hand expecting this not to alter. But by training the peripheral vision you will see the bigger picture and how things can change rapidly forcing you to react. Will pick this up again next week, but hope you enjoyed the class. Have a great week. Ouss...
